Lexus Canada says Consumer Reports has revoked the “Don't Buy: Safety Risk” designation it slapped on the Lexus GX 460 last month.
A retest of the 2010 model, updated with the software patch to correct issues with its Vehicle Stability Control system, showed the vehicle did not report any safety concerns in the handling tests, the automaker says.
“Lexus dealers in Canada began ing customers as soon as details for the VSC upgrade were available,” Lexus reps said in a release on Friday. “Virtually all customers were ed by their dealers within a few days and GX vehicles in Canada have already begun receiving updates.”
Safety concerns arose in mid-April after Consumer Reports testing indicated there were issues with the VSC system in the high-end SUV.
Lexus announced a voluntary safety recall to fix the affected models.
The company says it still urges owners of any affected vehicle that have not yet had the vehicle stability control system software upgrade performed to their local Lexus dealership as soon as possible to have the remedy completed.
