Steele to add GM dealership

AMHERST, N.S. – Local media is reporting that Donald Furlong has entered into a letter of intent to sell Tantramar Chevrolet Buick GMC to the Steele Auto Group.

Furlong told the Amherst News Citizen-Record that the timing was right to make a change after 32 years in the auto business.

“This is the correct decision for myself and my family,” he told the paper.

Financial details of the acquisition were not revealed, but Rob Steele, head of the growing Steele Auto Group, said the organization has a lot of confidence in this particular market.

“Donald and his staff have one of the best mid-sized stores in all of Canada and we are very pleased to invest in all areas to retain this standing,” he said.

Steele Auto Group is the largest group in Atlantic Canada and boasts a network of more than 25 new-car dealerships throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland. News of this deal comes at a tumultuous time for the group as Dave MacRitchie, company COO and president, died suddenly last week.
