THORNHILL, ONT. – Mercedes-Benz Canada has added another jewel to the network with the opening of its new flagship retail point just north of Toronto.
Mercedes-Benz Thornhill opened its doors this week after a ground-up build that started back in November 2013.
The massive construction project started with demolition of the previous facility with executives ceremoniously
turning over dirt once the lot was empty in March 2014.
The 3.2-acre property now boasts a 130,000-square foot facility the automaker says will set a “new benchmark” in automotive retail excellence.
Following the Mercedes-Benz Auto Haus design concept, widespread use of glass helps create a bright and open environment, the company says.
The showroom can fit over 40 vehicles and fixed operations boasts 32 service bays, six detailing bays, a six-vehicle service drive-through as well as dedicated AMG Performance and smart centres.
The new dealership also houses a 36,000-square foot used-vehicle showroom.
“We have been privileged to be an integral part of this strong and vibrant community for almost 27 years,” says Philipp von Witzendorff, V-P and head of Toronto retail operations.
“We initiated this massive undertaking because our customers deserve the best products and service possible and this goes hand-in-hand with an excellent overall dealership experience. We are very proud of this new flagship location but we are even more excited about the opportunity to provide an entirely revamped level of service to our customers in Thornhill and its surrounding areas.”
Timing is great for the brand as it closed last month with a record-breaking performance of 4,530 units. The month-over-month increase of 26.4 per cent bested its all-time sales records and further propelled the year-to-date total sales to 18,031 units up 15.6 per cent.
Mercedes-Benz Canada has 44 authorized dealerships in the network and maintains 13 corporately owned retail operations. The luxury automaker sold 40,555 vehicles in 2014 marking the best year ever for the company.
